Yuribait ’12 has started off with promising results (and I haven’t even watched KMB). However, no amount of bait and switch yuri will satisfy me until Black Rock Shooter finally airs.

I always mean to write something like this and since I finished my Secret Santa rec so quickly, I devoted the rest of December to writing this. Didn’t actually finish until the last week though because I am lazy.
Once again, Reverse Thieves secret santa project has succeeded in making me watch something I wouldn’t normally consider watching. Last year it was REC, this year it’s Tiger and Bunny.
Well I guess I only post DECO*27 things now. That’s okay. I’m okay with that. The man is just BUSY lately. While he hasn’t reached the popularity level of Supercell, it seems he’s following the same route by stepping away from VOCALOID and working with established artists. So how long until we see some of his work in an anime? To be honest, the KOTOKO, Daisy x Daisy and Light Lag stuff didn’t really impress me that much. Light Lag was his own thing with a vocalist he has worked with a lot in the past with but still. Then, yesterday he posts this.
His second single with Marina drops on the seventh (you can order it from here). His good ol’ Trio Amatou returns as well. It feels like we haven’t seen a PV by them in awhile. Marina also did Aimai Elegy and covered a few of his hit GUMI singles. It’s sort of interesting since Aimai Elegy was his first big step away from VOCALOID and he celebrated that by having her cover his most popular songs.
The single also, and this part was exciting for me, feautures a remix of Light Lag by Teddyloid. I am just in love with Teddyloid’s remixes. Since I didn’t like Light Lag that much, I am surprisingly excited about this. I’m not sure if it’s still Topi singing it or if Marina did a cover of it and he remixed it?
Those who don’t follow any of this might remember Marina from the band Girls Dead Monster from Angel Beats.
(Also, if you’re interested there are playing cards based off of Egomama which is odd and adorable)
I really am terrible though because the man has been so damned busy and I have been so unobservant that I also let the release of Galaxias slip past me. Galaxias is a new group consisting of DECO*27, Teddyloid and Kou Shibasaki. I’m not sure of all the details but apparently they are doing a tour as this group and their first album, according to CDJapan, released on the 23rd of last month.
I am still reeling from how good Egomama is so I won’t say anything on Galaxias yet. Since there is obviously so much I love about the group, I’ll save it for an album review at a later day (or later hour since I am just so excited about it).
There have been bad SATB albums in the past. There have been SATB albums with terrible tracklists in the past. But this one. This one takes the cake. Read more »
Despite what people will say about the end of this year’s SaiMadoka, I thought things were interesting. Starting with the first match where Misaka beat Homura. If any of the Puella Magi should have won, I honestly think Homura would be the most moe. I wouldn’t say that if episode ten hadn’t happened though. Kyouko? Great character but hardly moe. I’m kind of disappointed that my dream of the magical girl legacy going full circle with Madoka winning. In that regard, it really did seem as if it was “who’s the most popular Puella Magi” contest at the end.
Idid realize WHY Madoka didn’t join the ranks of the great magical girl legends though. When Sakura and Nanoha won they were both a) from a smaller cast size and therefore not at risk of splitting the vote. If, say, none ofthe Puella Magi had made it to the finals but Madoka well obviously she would have won (though the fandom split the vote so that PMMM would win no matter what so Madoka’s popularity compared to Kuroneko (who by the end of the tournament had only a few overall more votes than her) might make for a challenge but certainly a more interesting final match). Nanoha only ever had Fate to really, really worry about and in 2005 when Nanoha won, Fate didn’t even make it to the finals. Sakura, who was the first Saimoe winner in 2002, had Tomoyo who did place and was a semi-finalist. The second reason why b) Madoka was not a loli. Madoka is in the eighth or ninth grade (I can’t remember) while Nanoha (when she won) was nine and Sakura was 10-12. Now it’s obvious that the first reason listed is why Madoka, her self, didn’t win. I’m just saying, if she had been a loli she might have won.
Anyways I guess I’m glad Mami won. Though Sayaka is my favourite (deal with it), I was surprised she even made it to the semi-finals. I guess Japan doesn’t hate her as much as the western fandom does. I still think Madoka and Homura were the best fits to win if only for the title character triangle and because of Moemura. On a non-Puella Magi Madoka Magica note though, the other character I pull for every time she’s in the tournament did really well. Index beat her personal best (does losing at the beginning of the first round every time count as a record?) and made it to the finals of her starting round but lost to Kyouko who went up to be this year’s runner up. But Misaka didn’t make it to the finals either so it really was a good year! And because I’ve rambled, have a Mami image dump.
This is apparently quite a few months old and it isn’t shocking I’m not up to date on such things. I only found out because I was looking for information on the Black Rock Shooter game which is my key to utilizing the PSP I bought and only played five times and now want to buy a stupid expensive Penguindrum case for.
Nendoroid Generation/ねんどろいど じぇねれ~しょん is a PSP game to be released on February 23rd. It is a colaboration between Good Smile Company and Namco Bandai to celebrate GSC’s ten year anniversary. Something like that. The game feautures various girls in Nendoroid form and several different modes of play. There is a fighting game aspect which utilizes characters like Nanoha, Reimu, Saber and Black Rock Shooter. There’s also a dance mode where you can dress the girls up in different costumes and have them preform little dances. There’s also a mode where you interact with the girl directly and pet them or talk to them, stuff like that.
Characters confirmed are:
Fate/Stay Night
Saber
Rin Tohsaka
Rider
Illyasviel von Einzbern
Black Rock Shooter
Black Rock Shooter
Dead Master
Black Gold Saw
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
Haruhi Suzumiya
Mikuru Asahina
Yuki Nagato
Touhou
Reimu Hakurei
Marisa Kirisame
Remilia Scarlet
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha
Nanoha Takamachi
Fate Testarossa
Arf
Steins;Gate
Kurisu Makise
Mayuri Shiina
Zero no Tsukaima
Louise Vallière
My intial theory was that all of the series’ included had prominent games on the PSP already. That isn’t true for Touhou or Zero no Tsukaima, though. However, both Louise and Reimu and the gang were all added later on and initial screens and the trailer didn’t feature them at all. There’s also a mystery GSC mascot type character as well.
Reimu and co. being in the same game as Black Rock and co. (as well as Dead Master’s adorable little dance that made me HNNNGGGH) made this pretty much an insta-buy for me. The chances of this being released over here are zilch, expecially with Vita coming out around the same time. I was really forced to notice this price difference in PSP games though. Why are japanese PSP games so much more expensive than ones released in NA? It’s not even just import sites where I could see them jacking the price up. On Amazon, the price is still around 8000 yen. I haven’t looked at console games though. Are those even more expensive? That would explain a lot about what I’ve read regarding sales over there, then.
