Musou Kakyou: A Summer Day’s Dream #1

FINISH HER

I’m actually pretty excited about this. Probably cause it’s going to be bad? Anyways. On with it.

Well, I kinda am disappointed that they did such obvious characters. Would it have hurt to bring Sanae in? Well. Who knows how long they’ve been working on this. Maybe since before MoF. Hopefully the enxt one (?) will feature Sanae. Because a MoF episode would be bitchin. Cause it would have Hiiiiiiiina! Awesome.

But anywhos, Suika is adorable. There were alot of LOL moments. Like when Suika fell off or when Reimu slipped and all the bags fell and then that last one just fell AND especially when Suika went to go through the door and her horns got caught. I LOL’D.  Good. I should hope an adaption would be full of laughs.

I think the voices, despite being very highly known, are really good. There were some points when I heard Rena coming through in Reimu but I think that was just something I imagined (but when she saw the donation box was gone and she maid that EH? noise I lol’d). I didn’t think Suika would be so… high-pitched but it still kinda fit. Yuugi would have a low, low voice now. It would be awesome. Aya’s voice wasn’t quite right. She sounded way too loli. And Remilia’s voice should be much lower despite her being the most loli of all the cast members. She has to have a mature, seductive voice.(Remi’s perfect voice is from the Innocent Key one) Sakuya is atleast right enough although the Innocent Key one is better too. Patchy’s voice was fine.

The best part was definitly how Marisa was making snide comments (well nto exactly snide) at every point. It sort of seems like Reimu should have been that slight voice of reason and Marisa bursting in. I’d think Marisa would be more comfortable bursting in on Patch than Reimu. But if her donation box is involved well than you better watch out. I wish there would have been a little more danmaku but Patchy and Reimu’s little fight was good enough.

I wonder when the next will come up. I was actually curious near the end. I was surprised Alice didn’t appear. That probably means it was her.

Overall I thought it was enjoyable unlike somebody else. It wasn’t super excting but it was enough. Atleast it didn’t focus on Reisen.

But, is just saying it’s better than the Side Story okay? On it’s own… if we had no bottom line… nothing to compare it too… there have been some MADs tat had been more consistent and slightly better. But I feel bad saying that. Reluctantly, I sort of actually loved this. In anycase, it looked better than the first season of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

It wasn’t that bad for a fan attempt. I mean, seriously, you shouldn’t expect Sunrise-level animation quality here. I was surprised they were able to get enough budget for the shading…

hands get aweful sometimes but I was impressed too! I wasen’t expeting to be good! But Patchy could be a bit more stronger. I mean: She IS powerful, well, she has Asthma and everything but still skilled enough to play with spells using spell cards depending of the day of the week, It must be the “character that was defeated in the past geting weaker in the future” syndrome…
and wasen’t she the kind that always has that disinterested and calm look in her face?

Haha, sunrise hasn’t always had the best animation so I wasn’t sure if that was sarcasm or not. She is usually very calm, which is why I laughed when she freaked out after they threw a book at her.

It was a pretty good watch for me, most likely just for the novelty of it. The depiction of danmaku was also surprisingly awesome, and that’s coming from someone who hardly ever watches shounen/action :P

I liked it and I agree with you that Remi’s voice should’ve been the same as the one from the Innocent Key song. I loved that voice because she sounded so sultry…just like how a vampire should sound. I wonder how much time they spent figuring out who to use for which character. I suppose it all comes down to how the person interprets the character.

A lot of people say it’s Yukari that stole the box since it all happened in one night, but I guess Alice can do that with her dolls. I really want to see how they interpret Alice’s behavior. It’s probably going to be the fan-made personality where she’s hopelessly in love with Marisa.

Speaking of Marisa, I am kind of disappointed in her voice. She reminds me of a female Kyon, especially in that scene where Reimu bursts into Patchouli’s door before announcing she was coming in. Overall, I liked it a lot too and can’t wait for the next episode.

Yes, that’s the word. Sultry. I didn’t know how to describe it. It sounds nicer in the IK one.
Since Yukarin is narrated the beginning and the end of the episode, I wouldn’t have thought it was her. My guess would be Alice or Kanako and her shrine. Who knows, maybe they wanted their own festival? Personally, I think that would be the best outcome.

If you thought this was bad, go watch the “other” Touhou Fanimation mentioned above. It was damn horrible.
A slideshow of images, I would say.

On the contrary, Musou Kakyo wasn’t THAT bad.

Are you talking about the Sound Holic one? Cause that one was pretty much just video filters and, like you said, slide show.

There was also the one (I cannot remember for the life of me) that had the cast running by and had the cute ending with them all dancing. But that was still sort of let down given the promising trailer and OP.

A Summer Day’s Dream is still the best released so far. The highest quality, anyways.
