Hatsune Miku Append – 亡骸の花 / Nakigara no Hana

I haven’t been too impressed with Append. If someone inexperienced uses it, imo, it sounds the same as original Miku. Still, her voice does, in some cases, sound a little less robotic. She’s not as good as Gumi though… my main problem is it sounds too different from original Miku. Even Append Sweet sounds… like a older, depressed Miku. The cute, energetic feeling is lost. So I believe. Personally, while I may not be entirely fond of Miku, there are TONS of great songs with her originally so hopefully not everyone starts using the Append versions. Unless, you know, they have talent.

ryo was recently ‘experimenting’ (I can’t read moonspeak so I don’t really know precisely what he was doing) with Append – it’s on the supercell blog. But yeah, I’d agree that any vocaloid sounds terrible in inexperienced hands. Gumi tends to sound more realistic than the others though. But aren’t there different append versions? There’s like ‘dark’ and something else…

Dark and Sweet are the ones I remember off the top of my head. I think there is a Light one too but it’s not as popular as Dark, apparently.

Comparing Gumi to Miku shows how far the program has come so I expect her to sound better, of course. However, I don’t like when people group Gumi with Miki because Miki sounds nowhere as good. That may just be my personal taste though.
