There have been bad SATB albums in the past. There have been SATB albums with terrible tracklists in the past. But this one. This one takes the cake. Album Name: Exit Trance presents Speed Anime Trance Best 14
Artist/Circle: EXIT TRANCE (Quake Records)
Release Date: 11/16/2011
This track is actually a bit more bearable than 80% of the songs on this album since 80% on this album originate as moepop shit. It’s not like the original of this is that great though. I could not stop laughing when I watched the first episode of that show and this happened. I had to pause this because the giggling was too much. Our vocalists are only TAKANORI and hideki. TAKANORI is a sort of older vocalist so I guess I was happy to see him. Once again, no CAMRY or MAKI.
The opening from Ro-Kyu-Bu which I have not watched but from an outsiders perspective looks to be a very, very frightening show. From what I seen, it made Kodomo no Jikan was only doing the loli thing to be ironic. Unsurprisingly for the show, moepop shit. Squeaky vocals but it’s mostly kind of lacking in the upbeatness that accompanies such songs. Vocalists are 405 + mi-mi, a combination I think has done something terrible in the past. I hate this album too much to put in the effort to go find out what it was (even though it occurred on the last album I think). They don’t sound horrible here though one of them is definitely more talented.
- STONE COLD
Well I guess I sort of like this song originally. I was going to yell at Hommarju for not doing anything original with this (since the original was pretty UNTZ UNTZ as well) but he did a good job with the improv that occured when she was singing and also durring the drop. So our main offender here is Natsuhi. Something about her is really irritating in this song. No matter how Hommarju tries to salvage this song, her vocals continuously undo his work.
Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi? Really? Were they picking songs from the shittiest shows they possibly could? Ugh, the original is pretty terrible too. But KANA is all “I’m a veteran, I got this,” and her vocals are good and the people rejoiced. Dizzi Mystica doesn’t do much with the song (unlike Hommarju and the track before). So a shitty song, stays shitty.
- SWEET DROPS
It seemed like they were ignoring noitaminA songs so I was surprised to see an Usagi Drop song here (especially when they did nothing for AnoHana and that had a decent OP and ED). R.Cena and mi-mi do great jobs though. It’s kind of an odd song to remix though and I can’t really tell if it works. It sounds really off but the vocals are so cute that I think I can overlook the awkward sounding job by Dizzi Mystica.
The OP to Neko Gami Yaorozu I think. Troublemakers mi-mi and 405 return again. They sound decent enough. I was expecting more from Hommarju but I haven’t heard the original so what do I know here.
The ED to Kamisama Dolls. I was disappointed for a moment because I thought they weren’t going to do the OP which I like way more. It is at the end of the album though. YURiE is our vocalist and she does that weird thing with her voice where it sounds terrible. In most cases, anyways. It works here I guess. Plazma is also here and I am eternally thankful for it. Maybe the reason this album sucks so much is because they gave most of the album to Dizzi Mystica? He’s not really that exciting. This is pretty well done though. Even if only because the combonation of serious-song YURiE and Plazma just doing his thing is so great.
Good god no. There are good things about this and there are terrible things and the terrible thing is MFMW’s shrill voice at the beginning. Yusuke is here too but he is only really backup though her voice sounds a lot more tolerable when he’s singing too. HIRO’S ALLIANCE sounds famillar but I can’t recall off the top of my head if they were on another album (if one of you observant readers does know, just lemme know). I’m conflicted. Because I ended up really liking this one but MFMW was just ugh, very, very bad.
- 輝跡 -KISEKI-
Why Sacred Seven. Why. I could list all of the songs that came out at the same time as this and are infinitely better. I guess some seasons produce better music than others but when they actively ignore songs better for them and us(remember Irony? No me neither) then I get annoyed. Well, I don’t really pay attention to UmaUma releases so maybe some of those skipped songs get there. Maybe I should start checking those out. Latte is our vocalist and the old part of me that hated her giggles that she might be getting eased out but another part of me is disappointed that a second gen vocalist is getting so little time.
I don’t think this is the first time KANA has brutally murdered a Nana Mizuki song and I doubt it will be the last. Continuing this album’s tradition of picking lame shows, a song from BLOOD-C.
Okay, Idolmaster. Sure. And guess who, mi-mi and 405. Really. Wow. Just yeah ok.
Yuru Yuri OP feauturing… goddammit mi-mi and 405. And Dizzi Mystica. Are your expectations so high you can barely contain yourself? Boy I know mine sure are. Actually, this isn’t as bad as the previous track. It’s pretty cute and ok because Dizzi Mystica only had to do minimal work and he seems to be all about that now.
R.Cena gets a song to herself and I am eternally grateful. Her voice is like a relief after a flood of all that mi-mi and 405. OP from BakaTest and more of Dizzi Mystica.
- PARTY LOVE ～おっきくなりたい～
More Ro-Kyu-Bu. Along with Hommarju trying his best and…. more mi-mi + 405.
- CHASE THE LIGHT!
After all this album has put me through, I’ll just accept this. Chiptune style opening and then trancecore screamo eventually leading to a very brief piano segment and dubstep? WELL OK. It is honestly better than moepop shit at this point. TAKANORI is our vocalist though at times he sounds like a very girl Vocaloid? There’s a lot going on in this song, wow. Hommarju I expected another Umineko mishap but this is… it’s oddly good. It’s enjoyable, screaming aside. A quick google search tells me this is from Kaiji? Ah well things make sense now. The original isn’t nearly as weird as this is though.
Hommarju with TAKANORI again? I welcome it. I welcome it warmly. I believe this is the ED theme to Kamisama no Memocho. Sadly the song isn’t that great. Both seems to have worn themselves out from the previous track and had to come up with something subpar.
- HIGH HIGH HIGH
Another Usagi Drop track? Song features Yusuke as vocals and also purple planet which is completely new to me. Yusuke isn’t that enjoyable on his own, though. His voice isn’t very strong. I think the song is more well done than the previous Usagi Drop track.
Second Kamisama Dolls track. With Icon! I love Icon! That being said, I really want to like this. YURiE’s vocals (at least the tone she is using) is really out of place for the speedy remix Icon has crafted. Her singing is also more in tune with the original tempo of the song while this remix tries to move along quicker so there is some dissonance there.
Icon again! With TAKANORI! Actually the vocals aren’t that impressive in this one, just like with track seventeen.
