Am I still upset Blood Lad wasn’t actually airing this season?
Yes. Yes I am.
Natsuyuki Rendezvous: continuing
Arcana Famiglia: god no
Utakoi: liked it, maybe
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: continuing
Kokoro Connect: maybe
I was pretty hype for this because (romance) josei adaptions are a thing I enjoy generally. Especially if they’re done by noitaminA (but really the end of Kuragehime why would you do that the manga is so good and oh my god the main arc hadn’t even STARTED). I fell in love with this when I was barely a minute in. Seeing his apartment covered with the tiny planters he bought just so he could talk to her a little was surprisingly sweet.
I’m worried it’ll end up being more interaction between Atsushi and Hazuki. Any romance between Hazuki and Rokka being a back burner kind of thing. Or I was except he confessed in the first episode.
I was disappointed there wasn’t a preview for the next episode though. I’m really curious how this is going to play out. Hopefully without a boatload of angst but I think that would be asking a bit much.
OTOME GAME ADAPTION. Oh boy. OH BOY. Why do I always expose myself to these? Why? Do I think that they’re going to be good? That one day, maybe? Otome manga adaptions are hella sweet. But you don’t see them around very often. Otome game adaptions are apparently cash cows. Or I assume. Why keep making them? They suck. Do sillly fangirls not realize this?
But I digress. Arcana Famiglia. Chiaki Kon. J.C Staff. Ugh. UGH. I wanted to enjoy this since the game looked pretty cool but I couldn’t. Do all otome game adaptions have to be flamboyant and ridiculous? Well I guess yeah. Goddamn. The whole first scene was just silly. I guess she ends up with Liberta. I assumed it was Nova since he was the first character to show up but it seems like Liberta. Well I don’t know but I can tell you one thing. I could not give less of a fuck about either of them. I don’t particularly care about any of the bish to begin with but they annoyed me from the start. Dante gets a point in my book because his bald line made me laugh and I liked Luca the moment he appeared on screen but I guess they aren’t as important as dbag one and two.
I love me some Luca but I don’t think I can put up with this stupid show.
I’ll admit I was only watching this because of Chihayfuru. Had I not seen and loved that show previously, I would have skipped over this. I’m kind of glad I didn’t. I’m not sure if I could continue it but the first episode was very cute. I was a little put off by the animation at first since it seemed very flash-like but I got over that. Takaiko had some adorable expressions and was just an overall cuter character than I expected. Narihara was also more charismatic and likable than expected.
The short story format is kind of different so that is another interesting thing about it. The ED was really, REALLY unfitting though.
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
I originally had wanted to check this out because the art style seemed cute and I expected some fluffly slice of life. But once I started hearing people talk about it I actually got a little more interested in it. I’m actually kind of reminded of Fractale. Not that this show is bad. Just the setting. Rural life after an apocolypse, the details of which are undisclosed. This lacks the authority that made Fractale have an air of danger to it though. I don’t expect much conflict in this at all. Though just learning what happened to humans and what lead to where they are now would be interesting enough. And actually, the second episode was so stupid that it was hilarious. Stupid in a good way. A really good way. It was over the top and silly and it was perfect.
The oily effect used on the backgrounds lack detail so when they do come across ruins of previous civilization, it doesn’t have much atmosphere. Which is okay I guess. The show is very light and easy going so expecting anything else would be weird. Especially since I want this show to be funny more than slice of life.
I would pass this kind of boring thing up normally. But Miyuki Sawashiro is in it so I had to give it a shot. You know I never thought I’d see John Cena or the Undertaker in an anime but here we are. I did like the interaction between Iori and Inaba at the very least and Fujishima is the best character hands down. I was surprised I didn’t hate this as much as I thought I would. I’m not sure if I have the interest to keep watching it even though I liked it well enough. The pv hinted at drama before so maybe if I can manage to care about the characters, this could turn out okay.
To be honest I would have skipped over this if I hadn’t seen the ending before subs were out. I adore Momoiro Clover Z. Love, love, LOVE them to pieces. So I figured I would give this a shot if only because I like them and the ending is ridiculously cute. It was actually kind of funny. Slice of life humour is generally something that bores me (sorry YuruYuri) with Nichijou being the only exception ever. A lot of the comedy was hit or miss here and seemed dependant on knowing the japanese language first. Still, kind of enjoyable.
